Introduction :

Mission:

The purpose of the Golf Association of Florida is to serve all Florida golf entities and to engage in and promote activities deemed to be in the best interest of golf, golf facilities, and the golfers of Florida.

Constituency:

Anyone affiliated with Florida golf as golfer, club member, course operator, or by involvement in a golf-related activity. The GAF provides avenues of input from, and representation to, all groups. Memberships are in three classes: Individual golfers, Golf Clubs, and Industry Associates.

Objectives:

 * To advance uniform rules and standards of the United States Golf Association, especially with regard to the Handicap System, Rules of Golf, and Course Rating procedure.

 * To conduct a year-round series of competitive events, in all parts of the state, accommodating all levels of amateur golfers.

 * To provide a liason between member clubs and appropriate state and national organizations and entities, particularly the USGA.

 * To enhance the awareness of golf in civic affairs, and to provide information on the game’s activities to appropriate bodies.

 * To serve as a clearinghouse, information and resource source for its members and others.

 * To devote any surplus funds to the promotion of the game, the encouragement of more participants, and to better service Florida’s golf courses and golfers.

Long Term Goals:

 * To have all courses rated for both men and women from all tees

 * “Welcome center” programs to assimilate newcomers into the game with less intimidation and without burdening existing golfers.

 * A tournament program that gives access to regular events to all levels of golfers at a convenient distance from their homesanywhere in the state of Florida.

 * Recognition of member clubs who pass a review at regular intervals to assure that handicaps are compiled in accordance with the USGA handicap system and are accessible on the International Handicap Network.

 Individual Memberships

 * Golfers with handicaps on GAFNET are automatically GAF Individual Members.

* GAF Individual Membership is available to those not on GAFNET for $25 per year.

All Individual Members are eligible to participate in all GAF tournaments, and each receives a monthly copy of FLORIDA GOLF which contains entry blanks and schedule, as well as other golf news and information.

 Industry Associates

Industry Associates Memberships are $100 per year and are open to any Florida business or organization involved in, or associated with, the golf industry. Industry Associates are eligible to serve on the GAF Advisory board and Executive Committee.
