The resort course was first built in the 1920’s and was purchased and restored in 1946 by Henry B. Watkins, Sr. It was later redesigned by Mark Mahannah in 1948, then later again by Ron Garl in 1980, 1993 and 1998.
This traditional Florida layout is host of
the South Florida PGA Open, the Florida State Senior's Open
Championship and many other state and national association
events, including the 2002 Women’s U.S. Open Qualifier.
Naples beach has wide, generous fairways and is relatively flat. The course record is 63, nine under par, was set in 1963 by head golf professional, Paul Bell while playing with Gene Sarazen, Henry B. Watkins Sr. and Patty Berg.
